Andrew was born in Rotterdam (the Netherlands) in 1963 and has got Indonesian roots. He started drawing at a young age. However, it was not until 1987 that he started to use his talent in a professional way. That was the year Andrew started his education in drawing at a teacher training college.
Andrew has now been actively involved in education for 27 years. His drive for innovation, renewal and improvement became immediately visible. Andrew has helped structuring various new educational courses, he has laid the foundations for many successful projects and knows how to bring out the best in people. In 2009 he even was awarded ‘Coach of the year’ by ‘Schooltv (NTR)’ and ‘Kennisnet.nl’. This is a prestigious award.
Andrew is a versatile man and has developed himself into various directions, acrylic paint on linen cloth, painting in water-colours, printing techniques, bronze - and silver works of art and designing with textile. He is also actively involved as designer, author and product-designer. A number of schools own school-furniture designed by him and several companies are in possession of his bronze statues and stained-glass objects. In 2003 his children’s book ‘Too en Neeltje’ was published and in 2010 his first study-books, the inspiring method of learning art ‘VONC’ and the practical book on how to handle projects ‘Projectbeheer’ were introduced.
As an artist Andrew creates ‘TheatreArt’. The London Musical Theatre has been the centre point of his art work over the past decades For him, this is a form of art in which every individual can recognize him/herself and re-live emotions by watching a performance on stage. His creative thoughts are always in motion and he is always looking for new possibilities. After his first exhibition in Maasland in 1990, Andrew’s work has been on display in many galleries and theatres all over Holland. Now it is time for the next step. In the Summer of 2014 London will get acquainted with his ‘TheatreArt’.
